During COVID-19, ACE is supporting our certified professionals, candidates for certification, and others.

In this unprecedented time of work and social disruption, below are information and tools to help ACE Certified Professionals continue to work with clients and maintain income, and to provide meaningful support and connection to candidates studying for an ACE Certification exam.

For ACE Certification Exam Candidates

Exam Site Reopening: There are over 500 testing sites open worldwide. Testing sites have been taking extra precautions to maintain a clean and safe environment for exam candidates. Regular cleanings are occurring, and proctors are spacing candidates according to CDC social distancing recommendations. Candidates are permitted, or may be required, to wear a mask. The mask must remain on throughout the exam and subject to proctor inspection. To find a testing location near click here.

Reschedule option: If you currently have a scheduled exam at an in-person, computer-based testing (CBT) testing site location that has not yet been cancelled due to COVID-19 but have attendance concerns, you can reschedule at no charge for the Live Remote Proctoring testing option while available. Please note that this applies only to candidates registered for English-language exams in the U.S. and Canada for the ACE Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor and ACE Health Coach Certification Exams. Please contact examregistration@ACEfitness.org at least 15 days prior to your scheduled exam date for assistance.

Receiving ACE certificates: The current COVID-19 pandemic and other natural disasters are causing a disruption with postal delivery systems worldwide. Exam candidates outside the US should expect a delay in receiving their certificate. ACE estimates the arrival time to be 8-10 weeks from the date of the exam but may be longer. Candidates and check USPS International service disruption updates here to see if their delivery may be delayed.

NOW AVAILABLE! Take the ACE Certification Exam from home:

With approval from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), we have launched the option to take your Certification Exam remotely. Known as Live Remote Proctoring (LRP), this option will provide an alternative to taking your exam at a testing site, allowing you to get certified from the comfort of your home. LRP will be available for English-based exams worldwide and on a limited time basis.  Please read this FAQ document to learn more.

Health Club Recovery Fund Act

A piece of federal piece of legislation (bill) has been introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives aimed to aid fitness studios and facilities who have been adversely affected by COVID-19. This bill would provide 30 billion dollars of relief funds to fitness studios and facilities between now and December 31, 2020. If you are an exercise professional or health coach owns a health club or fitness studio, you may be able to benefit from this bill.  Some key facts to understand about this bill:

    • Grant funds would be awarded to health club and fitness studio owners and would be capped at actual business losses up to 10 percent of the previous year’s revenue of 10 million dollars (whichever is less).
    • Priority will be given to women, veteran and minority-owned businesses during the first 14-days of the grant application window.
    • Grant funds can be used for:
    • Payroll costs; payments of principal or interest on any mortgage obligation; rent payments, including rent under a lease agreement; utilities; maintenance, including construction or reconfiguration to accommodate social distancing requirements; supplies, including protective equipment and cleaning materials; debt obligations to suppliers that were incurred before the covered period; and any other expenses that the Secretary of the Treasury determines to be essential to maintaining the eligible entity.
    • The Health Club Recovery Act is designed to be attached to larger COVID-19 relief package and its passage is dependent on a more comprehensive relief package.

Note: If you have already received a Payroll Protection Program loan, you are not eligible to receive a grant from the Health Club Recovery Fund Act.

ACE is closely monitoring the progress of this bill and will update this page when new information becomes available.

On March 27, 2020 a federal COVID-19 relief package was signed into law. It contains important information that could assist you during this unprecedented time. To help you understand what this means for you and your livelihood, ACE drafted a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) document to help decode this policy language.

      Shared Use

With many states and counties limiting indoor gym activity due to COVID-19, ACE believes that the use of accessible public spaces like parks and green spaces in cities and towns across the country is more important than ever. These community spaces are optimal for safe, structured physical activity programming facilitated by certified exercise professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Below are resources that may be helpful to you in learning more about shared use and how you may be able to work with your state and local government to secure access to these spaces to deliver the exercise programs your clients and participants need to maintain their health.
